Stuck In The Middle With Booze [Aug. 29th, 2006|10:06 am]
[Current Location |At the Office]
[mood | energetic]
[music |"Here Comes The Flood" by Nas]

Ahhh. Back to the Grind. Another day, another dollar.

I still have no doorknob on my apartment door, and every woman who's attracted to me is extremely emotionally unstable. But that's not holding me back from the huge world of ROCK!

The big news is that we're playing our first Don Hill's show on Friday, Sept. 8, less than 2 weeks from now, and we'll be debuting a lot of stuff there: new tunes such as "Crown Heights," revamps of some old classics such as "This Is The End Of Your World," and the (90% likely) return of the "keyboard guitar" (Roland AX-7) and the wireless headset mic.

Darren Jones of course will be rocking the "skins," which I always thought was a weird name for the drums, although I suppose it does make sense.

Furthermore, Dave Tirolo just passed along the word that the basslines are all cut and ready to be edited and mixed. That's very fantastic news. I'm taking September off, after our show, to mix this down, hopefully add some horns, more guitar, and backing vocals. Then, it's off to the final mixing and mastering stage.

For those of you bored at the office, I highly recommend you pop by our website and listen to the tune "Logic Problems". This is a piece I performed with Mike Weber at the Catch 3-year Anniversary at Galapagos. The performance was a little incoherent, but entertaining, and hopefully a video of it'll be up in a couple of weeks, as should some videos from our Kenny's Castaways gig (thanks, Greg Travis and Renee Cole!).

No shows are booked for October yet, but there'll be at least one, somewhere. After that, we'll be playing Amy Chace's birthday party at the Underscore on Nov. 11, and I'll be flying out to "Cali" to play the Mishap Winter Formal 2006 on Nov. 17. You SFers stay tuned. Dave Posner and crew will be joining me as Missing Teens West for more butt-rock goodness.

Stay warm, and remember: if at first you don't succeed, don't blame me.

James
