I'm Gonna Do My Best To Turn You On (In The Club)
Ah, the Brothers Johnson. Standards of our great civilization, fallen into some disrepair by the prevelance of the white teenage diva.
We've got shows 'a plenty coming up: two this weekend - midnight at the Underscore and the next day (6 PM, I think) at the Lucky Cat. Both shows featuring the return of Spencer Chakedis, back from West Palm Beach, and Darren Jones, who is really stepping up his game/being a trooper for doing so many shows and rehearsals.
I'm thinking about debuting a few new tunes at these shows. At the very least, they will feature the return of a few golden oldies, including Tag Along and On and On.
I'm a very busy man with all these shows, so when the Knitting Factory on September 8th wraps up, I'm gonna sit down and finish this album... and then start on a whole new batch of songs, including the long-delayed "Crown Heights" and "Hopscotch". The creative juices are flowing, it's just a matter of getting the time to set in front of ole Bessie and crank these tunes out.
Thankfully smooth Dave Tirolo will be rocking the bass recording this week, so many new mixes should be coming over the next few weeks. Also, Sanford Livingston of Force Theory is gonna try his hand at a few of these tunes.
Stay tuned - it's a very exciting time for the Missing Teens, and, by extension, all of humanity.
